ECNL Briefer- International Standards on Access to Foreign Funding for CSOs

In light of recent proposals in Ukraine seeking to restrict regulation of CSOs receiving foreign funding, ECNL prepared a briefer on relevant international standards.

Recent years have seen a growing trend of governments trying restrict the amount and manner in which CSOs may receive international funding. In many of the countries where such restrictions exist, the respective governments do not offer much in terms of alternative means of support. Funding restrictions also impose huge burdens on significant parts of the civil society sector, in many cases threatening organizations’ ability to operate.

ECNL prepared a briefer to highlight the international standards on access to resources, and specifically access to foreign funding. The Briefer seeks to support stakeholders in Ukraine to make informed decisions with regard to any possible regulation of CSOs receiving foreign funding, as we reported on such proposals earlier.
