Azerbaijan eases special quarantine regime, yet ban on gatherings remains

Although some of the restrictions are/will be eased, still no more than 10 people are allowed to gather.

According to the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers No. 151 dated May 26, 2021, the special quarantine regime in Azerbaijan has been softened. Based on the decision, the following changes will take effect:

Beginning from May 31, 2021:

  • The requirement to use personal protective equipment (medical mask, cloth mask, respirator, etc.) in public places which are located in the open air will be ended;
  • Passenger transportation activity is resumed in Baku Metro;
  • Land and air passenger transportation from cities and regions of the country is being restored;
  • No need for COVID-19 test for flights to Nakhichevan.

Work and service are restored from June 10, 2021 in the following locations:

  • Religious places of worship (not more than 50% of the places of worship at the same time, and not more than 50 people in total);
  • Shopping centers (except for the activities of children's and other entertainment centers, cinemas); 
  • Sports and health-improving facilities, swimming pools - these are allowed to be used by individuals with COVID-19 passport (vaccination certificate) or immunity certificate (recovery document) except for persons under the age of 18.

 
However, the ban on gatherings of more than 10 people remains in force. Some hotels allow gatherings up to 30 persons with observance of social distances.
